Or is that smell merely the result of your excessive excitement at buying one? I only ask because Twelve South which makes Apple accessories has released something called the New Mac Candle. Its made of 100 percent soy wax. I assume thats a good thing. You though will be wondering what a new Mac smells like. In candle odor terms that is. New Macs smell of mint peach basil lavender mandarin and sage according to Twelve South. And there I was thinking that at best they smell of plastic and metal. How unsophisticated my nasal passages must be. Twelve South didnt immediately respond to a request for comment on how it achieved this ode to Mac odor. It seems though that at least some people have been persuaded. The New Mac Candle which retails in such bastions of retail glory as Amazon and the Container Store is already out of stock. This despite enjoying an Apple-like exalted price: $24 for just 45-55 hours of New Mac smell time. Still I suppose that some Apple fanpersons will believe that this smell is the last step before the perfect seduction of the lover for whom theyve been pining for years.
