Working Differently | I've just about sold out of key-rings – only a few tulip ones left – and I won't have any in the next update sorry! I feel like I'm in the final leg of a marathon and I'm feeling the pace. The update on Friday will consist solely of pinch pots and Christmas decorations which makes me feel like I'm going out with a whimper rather than a bang But I just don't have anything left in the tank. Time is up the bisque firing is on! There are still some lovely goodies I promise! As I've made my way through this my first hectic festive season I've spent a good amount of time thinking about how I want and need to work differently in 2018. Since starting my business in April things have gone better than I ever could have dreamed not that I had great expectations to be honest. I certainly thought it would take a lot longer to build a customer base. But it's been amazing and as a result I've been really busy. As a one-woman band I've been working most evenings and weekends. That's the way it goes with a small business but I do feel a bit like it's running away with me. At this point in life while my kids are still young I need to watch out that it doesn't consume me entirely. I'll talk more about this in the future but I've made a couple of key decisions. I'm not going to take any more commissions. I'll honour those I've already agreed to but no more new ones until further notice. The second is that my first shop update of 2018 won't be until 1 March which sounds like ages away but it's really not. After a good break for Christmas I'm going to focus on completing existing commissions working on a collection of larger pieces and spending weekends with my family
